Arya News - Murray has been on injured reserve since early November with a foot injury, and now questions about his future with the franchise will kickstart.
Kyler Murray won’t play again for the Arizona Cardinals this season, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Friday.
Murray has been on injured reserve since early November with a foot injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans, the last time he played this season.
“He had some more tests done this week, went out of state, got another opinion on it,” Gannon said Friday. “It"s not progressing where it gonna make sense that he can go. So he"s gonna be done for the year.”

This will kickstart questions about Murray’s future with the Cardinals, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 2019. Gannon and current general manager Monti Ossenfort were not with the franchise then, nor when Murray signed a five-year extension in 2022.
Does Gannon expect Murray to be with the Cardinals in 2026?
“I"m worried about the Rams right now, honestly,” he said when asked Friday, adding that he’s “disappointed” in the news.
Murray is guaranteed $36.8 million for the 2026 season. He could have $19.5 million of his 2027 base salary guaranteed if he remains on the Cardinals" roster five days after the new NFL league year begins in mid-March. Should Arizona release him before June 1, they would carry a $57.7 million dead cap hit. A post-June 1 release would see a $50.5 million dead cap hit in 2026 and a $7.2 million hit in 2027.
A Murray trade would open up $35.3 million in salary cap saving and cost only $17.9 million in dead money for the Cardinals, according to ESPN"s Adam Schefter .
Murray was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019 and made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2021. The Heisman Trophy winner out of Oklahoma has shown flashes of brilliance but also battled injuries, and also led the Cardinals to the playoffs just once in the 2021 season, when they raced out to a 10-2 start but lost four of their last five games and watched the Rams win the NFC West then beat them in the wild-card round.
