President Pezeshkian: UN General Assembly Offers a Vital Platform to Voice Iran’s Stance

President Pezeshkian: UN General Assembly Offers a Vital Platform to Voice Iran’s Stance
Arya News Agency – Ahead of his departure to New York, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined the objectives of his trip to the United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to peace and security.

Speaking on Saturday, September 21, following the ceremonial opening of the 2025–2026 academic year, President Pezeshkian described the UN General Assembly as “an invaluable opportunity to listen to the perspectives of world leaders and present Iran’s own positions.” He noted that while this year’s UN theme—“Convergence and Progress for All”—promotes unity, the prevailing global discourse remains dominated by unilateralism and authoritarianism.

“Some nations are ruthlessly exterminating their fellow human beings,” Pezeshkian said. “Human life, as the pinnacle of creation, must be honored. Witnessing children in Gaza perish from lack of medicine and food is horrifying. Israel continues its daily bombardment of Gaza, while so-called democratic and civilized countries support and arm it.”

He questioned the sincerity of calls for convergence, asking, “Does convergence mean everyone must be sacrificed to resemble those who impose their will? Every human being has the right to benefit from the blessings bestowed by God.”

Outlining his agenda for the trip, Pezeshkian stated, “I intend to articulate Iran’s positions based on my convictions—rooted in peace, justice, truth, and humanity. If circumstances permit, I will engage in dialogue with leaders from various countries, as well as with Iranian nationals and experts residing abroad. If we truly seek honesty and integrity, there will be no quarrel among us.”

The president stressed the importance of mutual understanding through dialogue: “We must sit together and talk to truly know one another. But some nations resort to coercion and destruction, making dialogue impossible. At the General Assembly, I will present Iran’s views and advocate for convergence grounded in truth, justice, and equality. Security must not be exclusive to Israel—security must be ensured for all people across the globe.”

He concluded, “I will seize this exceptional opportunity at the United Nations to amplify our beliefs and make our voice heard loud and clear in New York.”
